About RUFUS DESIGN GROUP

Founded in 1980, Rufus Design Group is a boutique building design studio with extensive experience in a diverse range of building styles and classes.

In 1980, the founder, Trevor Rufus commenced trading as Design Drafting and quickly established a reputation for quality design and documentation. A name change to Rufus Design Group Pty Ltd was made in 2004, and the business continues to offer the same high standard to a wide range of clients throughout regional Queensland and Australia.

Rufus Design Group has extensive internal quality systems and is highly customer focused. The company has an enviable level of repeat custom and has a large referral network of past clients, builders, certifiers and consultants. Fees are competitive and fee proposals transparent. We take the hassle out of building by being a one stop shop, coordinating all consultants and approvals if necessary for each project. Our level of service is flexible from being fully managed for interstate clients to building approval only for more budget conscious projects.

Our TEAM

Trevor Rufus - Managing Director

Trevor has an engineering background with a certificate in civil engineering (design office technician) and is fastidious about good documentation. He is also passionate about functionality of design and efficiency in construction methods. With over 40 years of experience in all facets of building construction and design he is highly regarded by his peers and other professionals. Trevor is a certified “Livable Housing Australia” (LHA) design guidelines assessor, manages the quality systems of the business and commenced his building design career in 1980.

James Parr - Residential Projects

James has a high level of creative flare and is our in-house residential design expert. He has designed the bulk of our award-winning homes and has a gift for understanding client’s needs. He consistently produces design solutions that clients ultimately fall in love with. He also has a background in construction and management. James started with the company in 2006.
Lois Richardson - Administration

As our receptionist and accounts manager Lois also fills the roles of production manager and works coordinator. With her cheerful disposition and ability to multitask she is a highly valued member of our team. Lois is very customer focused, has great rapport with all our clients and has been with the company since 2005.
Contract - CAD Operators

We have 3 external CAD operators to call on during busy times. CAD operators 1 & 2 have 15 years experience each in all classes of buildings. CAD operator 3 has 10 years experience in residential design and documentation.
External - Consultants

Rufus Design Group has established close ties with a wide network of building consultants covering Planning, Surveying, Geotech, Civil, Structural, Hydraulic, Electrical, Mechanical, Energy Efficiency, Quantity Surveyors, Building Certifiers, Access Consultants and Project Managers. We also coordinate Artwork and Renderers for finance applications and for marketing purposes.
